Long, Long Gone, temporarily on sale!
In another lifetime (aka 2012) we made an album together called "Long, Long Gone." We were a different band just starting to make music. Around 2017 we took it off streaming services so that folks looking up "Mipso" for the first time wouldn't confuse us (the real, present-day us) from our baby-face college selves. We figured it would fade away quietly into our distant memories, but we've been surprised at how often somebody messages us urgently searching for this thing. At some point we figured there's no harm being tour guides down memory lane. "Long, Long Gone" is up for sale on Bandcamp for the next month and 50% of every dollar earned will go to the Union of Musicians and Allied Workers (UMAW). The other 50% we will add to our studio fund, since we're finishing a new record this month too.
We were super green in 2012 but somehow lucked into working with audio genius Doug Williams at EMRR Studio. Thanks to Doug and also to Mitch Collman, a special, generous soul who had just started a local label called Robust Records and offered to put our record out. It takes a long time to get good at making music and lots of help along the way. A community with good music is a community that offers structured support to musicians. UMAW is doing great work. Collective action is a lot like music, it's a powerful force for good and necessary in a healthy society.
Just to be clear, after this month you will once again no longer be able to find this record online. Enjoy the temporary access to our collective collegiate fantasia. Gangnam style was on the radio and Mipso Trio was playing in the Pit.
